Inulin, also called fructo-oligosaccharide (FOS), is a soluble fibre drawn from chicory root. Peak Supps supply it as a plain unflavoured powder. It is a prebiotic fibre, which is why it usually ends up sitting next to the probiotics rather than instead of them, and it turns up in the same cupboard as the chickpeas and lentils that carry it naturally.

How to take it
5 g, once or twice daily, stirred into water, fruit juice or a smoothie. It also holds moisture and works as a binder in baking, with a mildly sweet taste, so it can go straight into doughs and batters. If you are taking medication, speak to a doctor before adding it.
